2up Gamers on Par

Friday was that time of the month when we all get together as per the usual 2up gamers. This time the 9th Gen was held at the Parow Golf Club.

To start off Glenn opened up with some announcements including the Blisters for bread attendance, new fixed venue and featured guests:

Popular Mechanics,
Rectron SA,
Ozone

As soon as the event kicked off Glenn announced “Opera Style” that everyone will be going home with a copy of Popular Mechanics (No it wasn’t taped under our seats). It was announced that this will be the last time that the venue will be moving. From the next event there will be a 300 square meter venue which will consist of PS3’s, Xbox’s and PC (Maybe some SC2 love in the future). Also noted that the next event will consist of a 128-man Fifa exhibition match. There will be 32 units setup (half Xbox and half PS3 having a home and away setup).

Ozone took the stage to announce that their product will be hitting SA stores. A new logo was revealed and during the redesigning they made it “Proudly South African” which is great when they will be exporting it to various countries. The product (Which is great I might add) is being left unchanged. It will be hitting the Western Cape shelves soon; it will also be available in JHB and Mpumalanga. It is currently available online for pre-orders. What makes them different from other products is that they use the purest form of water available. All the info regarding the water and all the benefits is available on their site. They’re fully behind the e-sports scene in SA currently sponsoring Hi-5 and F34R-ASF and all round great guys. Last but not least, as from next month all attendees of the next 2up Gamers will be able to order a case of the new energy drink upon registration and they will be getting it at a special price. Also they released the details that the 30th September will be the PS3 vs Xbox Paintball Event at G-Force Paintball on Bottleray Road. Although there are only 50 spots which need to be registered for, everyone is welcome as it’s a family day. Registration costs R50 (Normally R100), with Ozone sponsoring half of the cost. Details will be made available on their site soon.

Unfortunately Rectron were held up and were unable to make it but it was announced that they will be visible and fully into 2up at future meets selling hardware and peripherals at the events.

As always, 2up had some giveaways to random attendees… This included a copy of Forza 4, a few full game DLC Codes for Xbox LIVE, Borderlands and others. One of the prizes was an early bird which Jason took due to the fact that he was waiting at the door as Glenn arrived. There were giveaways of bags from Rectron as well. Us gamers just love free stuff.

After the presentation and speeches concluded we were shown to our relative eating tables for a quick bite and then gaming began with 2v2 on Call of Duty and 2v2 Fifa. The gameface got put on and it was time to show off some skills. Here are some pictures of what you missed if you were not there…

It was made aware that next month’s event will be moved to the following week due to RAGE taking place in JHB and the lucky Cape Town guys that get to go. At the end of the evening people completed their fragging and goal scoring they all went off home and I for one had a great evening as 2up is packed with extra awesome like they do. Looking forward to the next one at the new venue.
